Looks good! I do like the rust on that can more than on the Recon gun. It seems to look better when it's a blend of that rust color and the OD green, instead of the rust paint next to the green, almost like it should be transparent to an extent, and more prominent/dark towards the seam/joint. Keep it up!

Thanks Chris, the deploy (I think you meant deploy in your comment) was my first attempt at making rusty spots. Its funny that the can was a second attempt after the gun...I do think I'm getting it down and now that I'm getting some pure pigment powder it will have a more 3-D look to it, which is ultimately more realistic when you're talking rusted metal.

Thanks again, as always, for the advice!

Yeah I meant the Deploy, and rust is a very tricky thing to recreate since there's a million different shades and ways it reacts with metals and paints. What's the pigment powder you're talking about? I saw a technique once that used a fine powdered form of iron, some glue, and a spray bottle of water to put make an actual rust patina.

My thought process for the rust patina on the Pipboy went "that looks like crap, that turned out okay, how the hell did that work? Why does this still look like rust colored paint? Damn, orange drybrush over the rust makes it look better. Now why does this still look like it's painted on?"

Anyway, Google should pull up some decent rust tutorials if you've got the time, but keep practicing and you'll get there!

I like the idea of just leaving it outside to actually rust...hehe :) Thanks and good luck to you as well, that pipboy should be something that they sell as a limited-edition set with the game!

No, did you want one of the old ones? I was going to wait till I got the new one cleaned up and new molds made, but I could definitely get another pull out of these molds for you this week.

Only if it's not a big deal. I don't want to to spend money shipping it if you're wanting to wait for the new molds to be completed. Either way I'll be a happy camper! :)
