Ok, so it's done, but I left my CF memory card at the house and my main camera just mocked me. Did the best I could with my backup, but it's just not the same without a 1200.00 lens..or I just am not that good a photographer ;) Choose your own adventure!

Anyways, hope you all enjoy. The gun will be auctioned off soon, so if you're interested, please PM me. Thanks!

Would love to see some colored accents onthis, but understanding the big blocking and plates, i dont think the gun would favor accents or a main secondary color far from the original,

gun came out great btw

This was from a while back and I was doing it for a guy specific to his needs so the fairly standard coloring just worked for it. As you can probably guess, the weathering and aged finishes are my favorite parts. It's also something I still work on improving all the time since I'll never get it down perfectly. Glad you liked it and thanks for taking the time to comment! :)

That looks amazing. I am also making my own paint jobs and was wondering how is it that you exactly do the scratches? In my opinion, it is the weathering of the gun that really sells it...

I know I can use dry brushing to do the edges of parts, but the scratches, how would I do those? How do you make it look like it's going in that one specific direction as you did on places like the clip of the gun and the handles?

I would love some tips or techniques. :D

Thanks a ton, I appreciate the comment :) You have touched on one of the only things I tend to keep close to my vest. It's not that what I do is so amazingly unique, but they are things I feel I "found" over the past 10 months. I will say I use smaller brushes for the scratches and it's just a (fairly) steady hand. Just draw the brush back and forth over the spot and you'll drop streaks that look like scratches. for the real gouged out plastic, I use a dremel tool with various cutting bits.

I hope that might help ya and I hope you know where I'm coming from. I wish ya luck!

You're welcome.. I assumed that you were using a vast set of techniques that you have accumulated over all the experience you have and I understand that it's something that might not want to give out to the internet just like that. I really appreciate you saying these tips you have and I will definitively try more experimenting with what you have said and try out some things on my own too...

I actually am a Visual FX Artist and I completely see where you're coming from. ;) Talking about the little tricks I use in my videos isn't something I'd like to talk too much about either..

Thanks again for the tips and I'll let you know how my project goes! :D
