Mass Effect Nerf Stampede by JohnsonArms Mass Effect Nerf Stampede by JohnsonArms
This is the first of the red stampedes I've done, it was a blast to build and the owner is a good guy who added some really cool accessories to it after receiving it.

I've done a few variations in other colors and now I'm about done with the latest editon for a charity called Child's Play. The event information can be found on this page and I really encourage you guys to check it out.

G33kwatch.com, Penny Arcade and of course their Child's Play organization are all really great people and the percentage of the money that actually goes to charity would put larger charity organizations to shame, im my opinion. Really good people to support and it just looks like a great time to boot :)

Go Here! Hold down "Ctrl" when you click and it'll open in a new tab for ya! (You're welcome! heh)

If you dont mind me asking what type of paint do you use on these amazing guns?

Not at all. I use a lot of krylon paint for plastics as well as testors enamels for the detail and weathering work. Easy stuff to find, usually in hobby shops. I use many other brands, but these are really the same except for the slight color differences.

I hope that helps!

This.. is by far the best looking nerf stampede I've seen so far. The other paint jobs are ok but, also generic and at this point, main stream. Your paint job here is eye catching, sporty and low-profile; not easily noticed like the bright yellow stock nerf guns when people use them outside.

Super cool work! :thumbsup::meow:

I really appreciate that. I try to make each one a little different from the previous version by changing small details. I'll have a few more done tomorrow and I'll be sure to post up some new photos for you to check out!

WOW!!! This looks like an original product, something I would have purchased directly from Bioware. You've done a GREAT job with this. You should be very proud of the work you've done on this piece. Wait... I just had a nerdgasm. See! That's just how cool this thing is! :)

Thank you and I wish Bioware would hear you say that! ;) I actually have been working with some pretty cool game companies here lately, so who knows down the road..but, I enjoy doing them regardless and I'm glad you're digging them

An N7 logo? [link] Systems Alliance logo? [link]

I'd say the N7 one would be best 'cause the red colour scheme for this rifle looks more unique and 'Spec ops-ey' than one to issue to generic soldiers whilst the Cerberus weapons are generally white with orange decals.

Ya, I got the N7 logo in a few different color combos and I'll have to see if they can do the SA logo with the fine detail in the globe. Might try that as a water-slide decal!

What kind of paint did you use on this thing?

Well, about 8 kinds :) plastic bonding base cost with 3 coats of red rustoleum and then various metallic mixes for the weathering and detail work. 2-3 weeks to complete with all the prep and drying time involved. Hope you like how it came out!

i never normally post on devinart work, hell i only have account so i can broze at my leasure, but i I must say DAM thats amazing work. this has inspired me to paint my own guns up. only question i have is how do you paint over the nerf logo? from what i can see it looks very flat but i can not tell if you sanded it down or made some sort of blanking board to stick over it or if it was just really good paint job over the logo

I'm honored! The logos get sanded off either by hand or with a palm sander depending on where the offensive logo is located :) Some of the older guns will show the logos left on, but that was more due to the price I was putting on them - it just didn't cover all the labor. Now you'll rarely find em, unless they're left on intentionally. Please let me know when you post up some photos of your guns!

will do, just do not expect anyhting great im not much of an artist at the best of time sand it took me and my mate a week to find that using a cloth is a nicer way of spreading the paint for details than using a brush after we did the base primer.

thanks for the info on removing the logo though thats very usefull info to have especially since i wanted to do the same and put my own n7 info over the top of where it was.
