Jayne Cobb's Lemat 3 complete by JohnsonArms Jayne Cobb's Lemat 3 complete by JohnsonArms
All done. I did some new stuff with the "wood" grips and I'm happy that it came out the way I wanted ;)

Hope you fans approve! :)

Would you explain how you did that fantastic wood-looking handle? It looks exceptional real.
I am painting a plastic revolver myself at the moment and i have serious problems to make the plastic look like wood.
I tried this method here: [link]
But it doesn't look convincing.

Would you be so kind and give me a "little" tutorial? ^^

Hey there! Well, I used a razor to etch some wood grain and then blended some different colors of brown and other colors you find in wood. I mostly dabbed the paint and blended the colors to get it where you could believe it was wood. I wish I could be more specific, but that part is something I do by instinct and honestly it's hard for me to write out what I do :) I think if you use that tutorial as a loose guide, you'll get a technique that works for ya. Just remember there's a million ways to arrive at the same outcome. You just gotta practice and then you'll find out what you like!

I hope this was at least a little helpful :) Thanks for the compliment on the gun!

As a fan of your works, i disapprove of nothing.

The wood grip is a nice touch. :D although i'm assuming it's not real wood.

Haha, I like that kind of blind allegance! ;) Ya, not wood, but that's excellent if people think it is, right?!

Wow, this is amazing! So you made it all out of wood? I've been wanting to learn how to make cosplay guns for a while now.

It's actually 100% white resin. I had to work hard to get the wood look, but I'm glad it's convincing :)

Wow....it's all resin, that's amazing :O I know some who makes armor out of fiberglass and resin.... Which is ridiculous haha. Isn't resin expensive though?

Well, the unfinished kit is about $50.00 USD, so it's not cheap, but that's actually a lot less than the higher-quality resin casts. I think the cost is in the quality, more than the material, IMHO.

Really glad it fooled ya...if it didn't, pretend it did for my sake, ok? :)

I didn't know you could use just resin to make guns... it's pretty cool. Is it difficult to make? It looks extremely difficult.

It did fool me XD

I'm sure there are different types, but this stuff can break very easily, but it's durable enough to handle it. I really make these for display, but some people want to use them outdoors, so I just put as much clearcoat on as I can and warn them that no paintjob of this kind can withstand sweaty hands for a long time. The casting of the molds is fairly easy, but the making of the mold is what I don't know completely. Thats what friends are for, right? ;)

Yeah mold making sounds difficult, especially if you want the gun to look nice and smooth. Well, you did a very good job. I'm inspired to try and make my own.
