Halo MA5C Assault Rifle Replica - Standard Issue by JohnsonArms Halo MA5C Assault Rifle Replica - Standard Issue by JohnsonArms
I had a great time taking this to the TBCC and apparently there are a lot of Halo fans out there :) It's always a blast having folks take pictures with the props and it's also great for durability testing, hehe

Do you make swords that can be taken to conventions ? If so message me! I will pay!

I'm sure we could do something like that.  I'd just need to know what materials your convention allows or just plan to use foam if you think a wooden sword wouldn't be allowed

well maybe you use use a thin wood for the base and then after wards use foam, of course I want the sword to be long lasting durable etc. And of course the blade cant be sharp

Usually it's a  flexible fiberglass rod that they use for the core with additional steps to make sure it never pokes out the front .   I will warn you that the swords are not cheap to make.  Similar stuff from reputable companies can run into the hundreds if you want a really special hand-made piece.

There is going to be an Airsoft Version of the MA5C that Evike.com introduced..when or how much is unknown but for those of you who would like to have not only this model but a working one should definitely look into it :D

This is very true!  Unfortuantely there are a lot of countries that don't allow airsoft.  Kind of a bummer

yet again you have blown me away with your craftsmanship :D

what materials do you work with, and what scale is this at, Spartan or Human?

I can't take credit for the cast, but I do all the paintwork on these pieces.  I can tell ya it's Human scale and I believe he uses a Smoothcast resin which is similar to the stuff I use which is the 321 variety :)

I would love to see a working replica. Too bad I don't have the money to commission it... got an estimate though? It would be badass to run a game of Humans vs. Zombies with a working MA5C Nerf gun!

I hear ya there!  It's been done, but I think I could give it a really good attempt :)   If you can shoot me an email I'd be happy to send you a quote with no obligations.  Quotes are always free, hehe

could a rayven be used to make a nerf working replica?

I'm sure it could, but it'd likely be tough to keep everything straight enough to get much distance out of it.   The longer the barrel is after the flywheels, the more drag on the dart.

Man, I just love the detail you put into these. If I didn't know any better, I would think this was an in game snapshot using forge mode. XD

I owe a lot to the skill of the guys behind the casts, but I hope that the paintwork helps accentuate the details and gives the pieces some "life", if you know what I mean.  I got into this when I kept seeing what looked like very nice designs with less-than-awesome paintjobs.  Not that there aren't extremely skill painters out there, I just mean that I saw that situation enough that I realized there might be a place for someone like myself who enjoyed the paint part of things as much as the builder enjoyed the design part.   I think it makes for a great team effort and I still get a kick at seeing how they come out when everything's done.

Now with 3D modeling and printing at my disposal, I hope to show you guys more original projects as well as some really amazing replicas that will be produced in-house.  I'm pretty excited about it and I should have some examples out real soon :)

Oh yeah, it's good to have a love for the painting process as well. Or to find someone else who loves it. Cus any great piece can come out looking a bit flat when the finishing touches aren't well cared for. ^_^

and that sounds amazing. I've always wanted to see some really cool things come from a 3D printer. Can't wait to see what you have in mind for it. :D

Cool as usual

Do you find yourself making original designs or iconic guns more often? I imagine iconic guns is where the money is, but I'd like to see some far out designs.

Thank you!  I honestly keep busy enough just working on the existing kits that I have available to me, but I also enjoy making original props when that kind of commission comes in.  I'm currently working with a guy who is experienced with 3D modeling, so this could mean that very cool stuff is on the horizion for both iconic replicas as well as some original ideas I've had bouncing around in my head.  :)
