Halo 4 Didact Helmet Paintjob Progress by JohnsonArms Halo 4 Didact Helmet Paintjob Progress by JohnsonArms
Here's some progress on the Didact helmet made by my buddy Keith Muelas.  The first mold came out a bit rough, but I thought the casting from it would make a good candidate for painting practice.  It's actually coming out pretty nice, so I will make it available once it's done.  Let me know by message if you have any interest in it for your Halo trophy case! :)

Just an FYI, the eyes were not cut out, so it's intended as a display piece.  They CAN be cut out if needed, but I kinda like how they're coming along so it would be a shame to dremel his poor eyes out!  lol

Did you use a 3-D printer for the actual helmet?

It was indeed made with a 3D printer, but in multiple parts.  They had to be combined using resin to reinforce the shell and then all the ridges from the printing had to be sanded and filled.  It was a still a huge amount of work, but the final result really proves that the printing method will be a viable in the years to come :)

If I had one like this I would wear it, even to work! I hope it matches my tie (I joke I don't work- I'm an artist! lol)
