Guarding the Space Pirate Gold by JohnsonArms Guarding the Space Pirate Gold by JohnsonArms
Space Pirates have some weird currency, but it is pure gold so what the hell do I care? Not that I got this stuff illegally, but I do carry my favorite blaster to keep my share..mine. :)

I hope you like the look of the nerf Element, it was painted to match a Longshot I'm working on for the same client. It has a definite space marine style to it, but would work well for a lot of different themes like HALO, etc..

Thanks for checking it out!

You should post which movies/shows you did props for.
So viewers can look out for them.
Keep pumping out the awesome work!!!

Thank you!  Unfortunately a lot of my work is sub contracted and they pay for my silence.  I promise that issue is pushed as much as possible, but when you sign a NDA it's no joke.  You don't want to have them sue you over that sort of thing :0  lol

Oh yeah, the good ol' NDA.
If you could do a coffee table book of your work in the future,
that would be beyond awesome. Something to consider.
Meanwhile keep posting the awesome pics!
You're kicking major creative weapon ass!
Keep slaying!

Very kind of you to say that!  I hope it will be something to consider in the future, but I'd literally have to hand over the 20,000+ photos and let a pro figure it all out.  As much as I'd want to do it myself I know it would likely be released postmortem (when I'd have the spare time..lol)

Did someone ever teach you how to paint like this or did you learn it yourself?

How do you distress the outer paint layer so realistically? Do you do an undercoat of metallic aluminum/steel and then a top coat of the green, then very carefully distress the green? It's AMAZING the attention to detail, I'm just curious how you accomplish it so realistically.

The color scheme and mix of curves and angles definitely reminds me of some of the weapons used by the marines in Quake 4. Great work!

If you don't mind me asking, what do you use to apply the metallic paint for the wear effect along the edges?
