Arm Cannon in Action by JohnsonArms Arm Cannon in Action by JohnsonArms
Here's my first attempt at using leather on a weapon prop. It started it's life as a nerf spiderman dart shooter. I really enjoyed the leatherworking process and hopefully future work will look more complex and refined. Let me know what you think!

Unfortunately this one got damaged while I was drilling holes so it no long fires the nerf darts. It still makes a really cool piece for your steampunk outfit...if you have the same arm size as I do, hehe. I will post another photo of the assembly laid out so you can see the button snaps that hold everything in place :)

I know its a dumb question but would'nt the exhaust gasses from such gun burn your fingers to crisp if it were a real gun?

It would, certainly, but most fanciful things wouldn't stand up to much scrutiny. If you look very far into how they would really function, you'll lose the magic of it, I think :)

Indeed, but somehow this was bit too much. On other side if it were a pressured iar launcher or a dart gun it would work nicely. ;)

Aww yeah, thanks Marc! Now that I have the bug (and a hundred bucks sunk into the tools...hehe) I promise to have more rawhide added to the lineup :)

That looks really cool. The bit of grease (paint?) on your fingers really adds to the steampunk feel. I'll have to remember to grubby up my hands if I ever do steampunk.

Is there a way to get plans on how to build one of these? I would love to fire tootsie rolls at children as they pass by.

This was a Nerf toy that they sold in stores about a year ago, under the Spider-Man licensing. You might be able to find one in a thrift store or on eBay :) It shoots foam darts, but maybe you can mod it for candy, heheh

I would love that weather on a regular basis. My main problem here in Florida is the humidity. It's a killer and seems to stay around all year long! arrg!

This was the older Spiderman set. I don't know if it was version 1, but the stuff I see in stores now look totally different. That would make a very cool piece on a Mandalorian suit :)
